Why not other seven planets of our Sun not habituated?

Dr.APJAK Sir's answer...

"When I addressed Southern Regional Science Congress at Coimbatore, Tamilnadu, one student started, he said "my teacher today told me that the Sun has got eight planets, only earth has got life and life supporting system for thousands of species. Tell me Mr Kalam, why not other seven planets of our Sun not habituated.

I asked the student, what his name and in which class studying. He said, my name is Saravanan and studying in 10+2.

My answer to the student was; actually this has been question answered in beautiful way long-long ago by Isaac Newton himself, the discoverer of gravitational law. Newton said, "the only miracle is the earth at a unique distance, gets required warmth and light from the Sun".

Let me answer further to your question.

What is the environment of other planets?

I said, dear young friend,
do you know that on Jupiter,
three thousand times the size of the earth,
a powerful hurricane has been raging for the past 400 years:

on Neptune wind speeds reach up to 3200 km per hour,
that is over 10 times higher than the strongest gusts
mustered by Katrina, USA or Tsunami winds India's experienced.

On Mars, the dust stormed continuously engulfs part of the planet.

On Saturn's Moon Titan it rains liquid methane and

Venus is chocked by a thick smoggy blanket of sulfuric acid.

Is any species, possible such an environment?
Scientific debates going on...,

but fortunately

none of these happen on our planet earth
and we are safe."

Dr.APJAK Speech @ Launch of the Rashtirya Avishkar Abhiyan

"Excellence in thinking and actions"

Why we learn?

Friends,
I have often wondered
what makes us learn ?
Why we go to school and universities,
read books, surf net for knowledge ?
So, why we learn ?

I have three thoughts to answer this question.
First we learn to live.
Second we learn to think.
And third, we learn to learn.

Let me elaborate.

We learn to live ?

As many times since education is for making a person
as a good human being and enlightened citizen,
then livelihood and ultimately for career growth.

Whether you become an officer, a teacher,
businessmen or businesswomen, a soldier,
an engineer or doctor or scientists,
or any profession you cherish to become,
the fundamental need is
education, education and right type of education.

We learn to think ?

When we use our knowledge
which will give us new thoughts.
For instance,
Scientists learn science to give them
the ability to think differently and
evolve new concepts.

The great examples of learn to think
in our country Sir CV Raman and
in USA - Albert Einstein.

Finally, We learn to learn.
This is where passion
is fueled by knowledge.
It is when,
an individual immerses
himself or herself in all possible means
to gain knowledge and
reflect on it energized by the zeal of
knowing everything about a particular field.

Such a person is undeterred by
fears of failure and rejection.

For instance, Ramanujam, the great mathematician
continued his learning of mathematics with full passion and
he was not even affected by the fact that
he did not do so well in all other subjects.

Einstein was immersed in his relativity theory and
mass-energy equation as he was learning to learn? and
no worldly criticism and ridicule
could make him change his path.

Hence, every one of the students should
imbibe the thought that
"learn to live ?
learn to think ? and
learn to learn".

English Translation:

Brother oh my brother,
you look like our father.
We are from same root,
but our life
gives us different meanings.

Sister oh my sister, my friend.
You walked away from me
searching your love…
simple means that girls
will separate from her own family
once she get married.

Wife oh my lover,
you guide me,
motivate me,
help me and
be a backbone for me
to achieve goals in life
which even you
don’t do it for yourself.

Son oh my son,
you are my soul, life.
May you have blessed life.

Daughter oh my daughter,
will you be happy
after marriage
or will you search me
in your loving husband?

Friend oh my friend,
your frienship is the results of my love

Enemy oh my enemy,
you laughing at me
because im naked [being human].
Your dress just covering your nudity.
Your religion and caste dresses
will gone one day,
the nudity [humanism]
only will last forever

Reader oh my reader [all humans],
read everything and
understand everything.
Smile if you understand,
question if you not, and
correct it if you feel it’s wrong

My poem is yours,
I will be live long in your poems

2015 will get an extra second, but is the Internet ready?

On June 30th this year, a single second will be added to the world's atomic clocks, according to the Paris based International Earth Rotation Service (IERS), which keeps tracks of such things. The leap second needs to be added because as the Earth spins on its axis - causing days and nights - it is slowing down by about two thousandth of a second every day.

So, after 23:59:59 on June 30 2015, the world's atomic clocks will tick to 23:59:60 and then on to the standard 00:00:00 which is midnight. From here onwards it will continue normally to 00:00:01 which will be July 1.

The Earth's rotation, like a spinning top, is affected by many gigantic forces including earthquakes, tidal pulls and even weather. These can cause unpredictable changes in the rotation speed which is what our 'time' is linked to. The IERS tracks this, adds up bits of extra time segments and issues six-monthly bulletins to warn of any impending changes. This year's leap second will be the 26 thadded since 1972.

While such minuscule changes in time have hardly affected normal human lives till now, in this age of the computer and Internet even a second may become stunningly important. This was demonstrated in 2012 the last time a second was added to the world time. Several websites like Foursquare, Reddit, LinkedIn, and StumbledUpon suffered glitches as the extra second got added because their clocks couldn't figure out what happened.

Global IT giants are already preparing for this year's leap second. Google has devised a method called "leap smear" to get around the leap second problem. This strategy involved adding very small bits of time, adding up to one second, spread over a longer period rather than adding a full second at one go. In a blog post in 2011, Google's reliability engineer Christopher Pascoe had explained this:

"We modified our internal NTP servers to gradually add a couple of milliseconds to every update, varying over a time window before the moment when the leap second actually happens. This meant that when it became time to add an extra second at midnight, our clocks had already taken this into account, by skewing the time over the course of the day. All of our servers were then able to continue as normal with the new year, blissfully unaware that a leap second had just occurred.

While Google, with its vast resources can indulge in this fix, others may find it difficult to handle. So, you may expect some random glitches or outages come July 1.

ஓடும் நீளம், a = 4
குன்றம், b = 3

c= (a - a/8) + (b/2)
= 4-(4/8) + (3/2)
= 5

(5,12,13)
ஓடும் நீளம், a = 12
குன்றம், b = 5

c= (a - a/8) + (b/2)
= 12-(12/8) + (5/2)
= 13

(7,24,25)
ஓடும் நீளம், a = 24
குன்றம், b = 7

c= (a - a/8) + (b/2)
= 24-(24/8) + (7/2)
= 24.5

(8,15,17)
ஓடும் நீளம், a = 15
குன்றம், b = 8

c= (a - a/8) + (b/2)
= 15-(15/8) + (8/2)
= 17.125

This logo doesnt seem to hide much at first sight, but it gives you a little insight in the philosophy behind the brand. First of all, the yellow swoosh looks like a smile: Amazon.com want to have the best customer satisfaction. The swoosh also connects the letters a and z, meaning that this store has everything from a to z.
Fun & Info @ Keralites.net

This is probably one of the best known logos with a hidden meaning. If you look closely, youll see an arrow thats formed by the letters E and x. This arrow symbolizes speed and precision, two major selling points of this company.
Fun & Info @ Keralites.net
Continental
Continental is a manufacturer of tyres. You could actually see this in their logo, because the first two letters create a 3-dimensional tyre.

Unilever
Unilever is one of the biggest producers of food, beverages, cleaning agents and personal care products. They produce a huge amount of different products and they wanted to reflect this in their logo. Each part of the logo has a meaning. For example: the heart represents love, care and health - feeling good, a bird is a symbol of freedom. Relief from daily chores “ getting more out of life.
Fun & Info @ Keralites.net
Formula 1
At first, this logo might not make much sense. But if you look closely, youll see the number 1 in the negative space between the F and the red stripes. I also love how this logo communicates a feeling of speed.
Fun & Info @ Keralites.net

The Sun logo is one of the most famous ambigrams in the world. You can read the brand name in every direction; both horizontally and vertically. This logo was designed by professor Vaughan Pratt of the Stanford University .
Fun & Info @ Keralites.net
NBC
The NBC (National Broadcasting Company) is one of the biggest American television networks. I think most of you have already seen the peacock in this logo. The peacock has 6 different tail feathers, referring to the six divisions at the time that this logo was created. The peacocks head is flipped to the right to suggest it was looking forward, not back.

How to Regulate the Mind? - 9 Easy Steps!

What is Mind?:

What is Mind?  Is it part of the Brain?  The brain has got physical characteristics which can be visualized, touched, handled and is located inside the skull. There are certain brain control techniques. But what about the mind?  It has no physical dimensions.  But there appears to be some kind of relationship between the brain and the mind.  When the brain is non functional, (say when the brain activity is blocked by deep anesthesia or coma), the mind also does not seem to function.

Mind is not a gross matter - visible and tangible. The mind can not be seen. The magnitude of the mind cannot be measured. Mind does not require a space to exist.

Definition of Mind:

How to define the Mind?  The mind is nothing but a “bundle of desires, thoughts, wants and expectations”.  As long as a person is alive, he will have the thoughts, desires, wants and expectations.  And these are continually changing, minute to minute and day by day.

If your desires and expectations do not fructify, you are under stress, leading to anxiety, mental tension, frustration and depression.  If you want to enjoy stress free life, you need to exercise control over mind.  You cannot under-estimate the mind powers.

Mind Control Techniques:

But how to control your mind?  How to control your negative thoughts and desires?  Why there is a necessity to control the negative thoughts and desires, thereby attempting to control the mind?  Because, the thoughts and desires transform into words and words result in actions.  When a person has a lot of negative thoughts, it may lead him to stress, anxiety, depression, negative actions and violent behavior.    There are certain mind control techniques / mind control tricks widely practiced, such as Suppression technique and/or Outburst technique, for controlling the mind.

In the Suppression technique, you are asked to suppress your negative thoughts and desires and not to manifest them.  But the fact is, your thoughts and desires are like coiled springs.  The more you suppress the coiled spring, the more pressure is built upon it.  The moment you let go of your hand even slightly, the coiled spring jumps across much more vigorously.  Similarly, the moment you relapse in suppressing your negative thoughts and desires, they come out violently.  The situation becomes from bad to worse.

In the Outburst technique, you are asked to let out your negative thoughts with full force in the open.  If you are angry with somebody, you are asked to outburst your anger, say in front of a mirror or in an open park.  Once your outburst is over, you may temporarily feel relaxed.  But ultimately, this technique leads you to the guilt feeling, which in turn generates a lot of negative thoughts.  It is a vicious cycle.  These methods employ negative techniques and hence the relief becomes temporary, ultimately leading to more and more negative thoughts, stress, anxiety, cynicism and mental imbalances.

Other methods involve the techniques called “still the mind” and/or “be a witness to your thoughts”.  But for majority of the people (including me), it is very difficult to practice in day to day life, as only a few holy men / yogis can master these techniques.

Substitution Technique:
What I recommend and as well as I practice, is the “Substitution” technique.  We should understand the nature of mind.  As I mentioned in the beginning of this article, mind is the bundle of desires, thoughts and wants.  As long as you are alive, your mind will always be with you.  Your mind is always filled with thoughts and desires.  You cannot empty your mind in your day to day life.

Suppose you enter your bedroom in the night.  The room is dark and you can not see anything.  Once you switch on the light bulb, the entire room is filled with light and you do not see the darkness.  What happened to the darkness?  As soon as the light came in, the darkness vanished automatically.  You did not attempt to drive away nor suppress the darkness.  You only put on the light switch.  You enabled the light to come in, which drove away the darkness automatically.  Similar is the case with your mind.  Bring in positive thoughts to your mind, which will automatically drive away your negative thoughts.  But the mind can not be empty.  Instead of mind full of negative thoughts, substitute them with positive thoughts.  When the mind is full of positive thoughts, there is no place for negative thoughts to enter.

In fact, the phrase “how to control the mind” itself is wrong.  It is almost impossible to “control” the mind.  The right phrase is “how to regulate the mind”.  By practicing the “substitution” technique properly, we can regulate our mind in the day to day life.

How to practice the “substitution” technique in our daily life?  It is not difficult, provided you make a commitment to practice them on a daily basis.  There are 9 Steps to practice the “substitution” technique, which I will explain below.

Step 1 – Keeping Good Company:

There is a famous quote- “Tell me who your friends are and I’ll tell you who you are”.  Seeking and remaining in good company will keep your mind with positive thoughts.  Consider a small example.  You are all familiar with mineral water.  Imagine that you have a 1-litre bottle which is full of filthy water.  You are required to replace the filthy water with clean drinking water, but there is a condition.  You can not pour out the filthy water first, wash the bottle and then fill up the bottle with clean water.  In such a situation, how can you replace the filthy water with good water?  It is very easy.  Go to a stream where clean water is flowing.  Just keep the water bottle, containing the filthy water, immersed in the stream.  You will find that after a few minutes, the entire bottle is filled with clean water.  How has this happened?  The clean water from the stream has entered the bottle and driven away the filthy water.  You have not done anything extra-ordinary.  You have simply brought the filthy water bottle in contact with the stream water.  That’s all.  Now, compare the water bottle with your Mind.  The filthy water can be compared to the negative thoughts and negative desires in your mind.  The water stream can be compared with good company (in Sanskrit language, “good company” is called “satsang”). When you remain in the good company, the positive thoughts enter your mind and drive away the negative thoughts.  It is similar to the light driving away the darkness in the room.

Step 2 – Repeat God’s Name Often:

Choose the name of God you love the most.  Whenever you find time, irrespective of where you are, keep on repeating your God’s name mentally.  (In Sanskrit, it is called “nama smaran”). God loves music.  If you can repeat the name of your God in a musical tune (as per your liking), it is wonderful.  This process will drive away your negative thoughts and emotions.

Step 3 – See Good Sights:

We should understand one important aspect.  Mind can be compared to the CPU of the computer.  Whatever we feed in, CPU processes it and gives the output.  Garbage in – Garbage out.  Quality data in – Quality reports out. The data to the CPU can be fed in through the FIVE input devices, such as the Keyboard, Mouse, Floppy Drive, CD Drive and Pen Drive.  Similarly, our FIVE sensory organs, such as the Eyes, Ears, Nose, Mouth and the Hands are the input devices to the Mind.  Based on the input information fed by these sensory organs, our Mind reacts.  If you see only good sights and positive videos / movies, positive thoughts are developed in the Mind.  If you see horror films and negative / filthy programs on the TV (most of TV programs have a lot of these), negative and violent thoughts are developed in the Mind. Read only good and holy books and the books on personality development.  Avoid reading horror stories and negative news (newspapers have plenty of them).

Step 4 – Hear Good Music:

Tune your ears to hear only good and soothing music and sounds.  As far as possible, avoid hearing bad and filthy words, heated arguments and violent shouts.  It is better to move away from such places.

Step 5 – Speak Softly and Positively:

Always try to speak softly and positively.  Don’t hate others. Avoid speaking harsh words.  Don’t enter into heated arguments with anybody.  It is pertinent to remember Mahatma Gandhi’s reference to the Three Monkeys – First Monkey closing his both EYES with both hands – Don’t see bad sights; the Second Monkey closing his both EARS with both hands – Don’t hear bad sounds; and the Third Monkey closing his MOUTH with both hands – Don’t speak bad words / untruth.

Step 6 – Eat Moderately:

Another important aspect which influences your thoughts and the Mind, is the type and quantity of food you eat. A subtler part of the food digested, influences the Mind and the thought process.  Always choose nutritious food and eat in moderate quantity.  Too much of food not only leads to obesity, but also leads to dullness of the Mind. Avoid alcoholic drinks, cigarettes and drugs, which not only spoil your health, but also adversely affect your Mind.  Also avoid stale / pungent food.

Step 7 – Smell Good Fragrance:

Try to smell good fragrances, particularly the natural flowers.  Avoid / move away from the place where there is a bad / filthy smell.

Step 8 – Do Good Things:

Always try to do good things in life.  Whenever and wherever you get a chance to help others, however tiny it is, please extend your help.  Avoid doing wrong things against your Conscience, as it will lead to guilt feelings in your Mind.

Step 9 – Go to Good / Holy Places:

Visit good and holy places.  Whenever possible, make a tour to the country-side and / or Mountain ranges, where you can enjoy the natural surroundings.  They will refresh your Mind and Heart.  Avoid going to gamblers’ dens and other unholy places.

“Hands that Help are Holier, than the Lips that Pray”.

God's Particle

Power of Positive Talk

Amazing article from the GREAT ONE Dr.Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam

“I remember my dad teaching me the power of language at a very young age. Not only did my dad understand that specific words affect our mental pictures, but he understood words are a powerful programming factor in lifelong success.

One particularly interesting event occurred when I was eight. As a kid, I was always climbing trees, poles, and literally hanging around upside down from the rafters of our lake house. So, it came to no surprise for my dad to find me at the top of a 30-foot tree swinging back and forth.. My little eight-year-old brain didn't realize the tree could break or I could get hurt. I just thought it was fun to be up so high.

My older cousin, Tammy, was also in the same tree. She was hanging on the first big limb, about ten feet below me. Tammy's mother also noticed us at the exact time my dad did. About that time a huge gust of wind came over the tree. I could hear the leaves start to rattle and the tree begin to sway. I remember my dad's voice over the wind yell, "Bart, Hold on tightly." So I did. The next thing I know, I heard Tammy screaming at the top of her lungs, laying flat on the ground. She had fallen out of the tree.

I scampered down the tree to safety. My dad later told me why she fell and I did not. Apparently, when Tammy's mother felt the gust of wind, she yelled out, "Tammy, don't fall!" And Tammy did. fall.

My dad then explained to me that the mind has a very difficult time processing a negative image. In fact, people who rely on internal pictures cannot see a negative at all. In order for Tammy to process the command of not falling, her nine-year-old brain had to first imagine falling, then try to tell the brain not to do what it just imagined. Whereas, my eight-year-old brain instantly had an internal image of me hanging on tightly.

This concept is especially useful when you are attempting to break a habit or set a goal. You can't visualize not doing something. The only way to properly visualize not doing something is to actually find a word for what you want to do and visualize that. For example, when I was thirteen years old, I played for my junior high school football team. I tried so hard to be good, but I just couldn't get it together at that age. I remember hearing the words run through my head as I was running out for a pass, "Don't drop it!" Naturally, I dropped the ball.

My coaches were not skilled enough to teach us proper "self-talk." They just thought some kids could catch and others couldn't. I'll never make it pro, but I'm now a pretty good Sunday afternoon football player, because all my internal dialogue is positive and encourages me to win. I wish my dad had coached me playing football instead of just climbing trees. I might have had a longer football career.

Here is a very easy demonstration to teach your kids and your friends the power of a toxic vocabulary. Ask them to hold a pen or pencil. Hand it to them. Now, follow my instructions carefully. Say to them, "Okay, try to drop the pencil." Observe what they do.

Most people release their hands and watch the pencil hit the floor. You respond, "You weren't paying attention. I said TRY to drop the pencil. Now please do it again." Most people then pick up the pencil and pretend to be in excruciating pain while their hand tries but fails to drop the pencil.

The point is made.

If you tell your brain you will "give it a try," you are actually telling your brain to fail. I have a "no try" rule in my house and with everyone I interact with. Either people will do it or they won't. Either they will be at the party or they won't. I'm brutal when people attempt to lie to me by using the word try. Do they think I don't know they are really telegraphing to the world they have no intention of doing it but they want me to give them brownie points for pretended effort? You will never hear the words "I'll try" come out of my mouth unless I'm teaching this concept in a seminar.

If you "try" and do something, your unconscious mind has permission not to succeed. If I truly can't make a decision I will tell the truth. "Sorry John. I'm not sure if I will be at your party or not. I've got an outstanding commitment. If that falls through, I will be here. Otherwise, I will not. Thanks for the invite."

People respect honesty. So remove the word "try" from your vocabulary.

My dad also told me that psychologists claim it takes seventeen positive statements to offset one negative statement. I have no idea if it is true, but the logic holds true. It might take up to seventeen compliments to offset the emotional damage of one harsh criticism.

These are concepts that are especially useful when raising children.

Ask yourself how many compliments you give yourself daily versus how many criticisms. Heck, I know you are talking to yourself all day long. We all have internal voices that give us direction.

So, are you giving yourself the 17:1 ratio or are you shortchanging yourself with toxic self-talk like, " I'm fat. Nobody will like me. I'll try this diet. I'm not good enough. I'm so stupid. I'm broke, etc. etc.."

If our parents can set a lifetime of programming with one wrong statement, imagine the kind of programming you are doing on a daily basis with your own internal dialogue.

Here is a list of Toxic Vocabulary words.

Notice when you or other people use them.

But: Negates any words that are stated before it.
Try: Presupposes failure.
If: Presupposes that you may not.
Might: It does nothing definite. It leaves options for your listener..
Would Have: Past tense that draws attention to things that didn't actually happen.
Should Have: Past tense that draws attention to things that didn't actually happen (and implies guilt.)
Could Have: Past tense that draws attention to things that didn't actually happen but the person tries to take credit as if it did happen.
Can't/Don't: These words force the listener to focus on exactly the opposite of what you want. This is a classic mistake that parents and coaches make without knowing the damage of this linguistic error.

Examples:

Toxic phrase: "Don't drop the ball!"
Likely result: Drops the ball
Better language: "Catch the ball!"

Toxic phrase: "You shouldn't watch so much television."
Likely result: Watches more television.
Better language: "I read too much television makes people stupid. You might find yourself turning that TV off and picking up one of those books more often!"

Exercise: Take a moment to write down all the phrases you use on a daily basis or any Toxic self-talk that you have noticed yourself using. Write these phrases down so you will begin to catch yourself as they occur and change them.
